Despite

Despite

Despite the heat, they went for a walk.
A pesar de mi acento, me puedes entender. Despite my accent, you can understand me.

Despite the delay, we'll arrive on time.

Despite the complaints, they didn't stop
building.
Despite all the problems, you did it.

Despite the fact that it was hot, they went for a walk.
entender. Despite the fact that I have an accent, you can understand me.
Despite the fact that my team was the
favourite, my brother's team won the match.
Despite the fact that the director was against it, the strike went ahead.
Despite the fact that it's raining, I'm going to do some gardening.

Christmas Carol

Scrooge: Let me hear another sound from you, and you'll keep your Christmas by losing your position!

Nephew: Don't be angry, uncle. Come! Dine (cenar) with us to-morrow.

Scrooge: NO!

Nephew: But why? Why?

Scrooge: Why did you get married?

Nephew: Because I fell in love.

Scrooge: Because you fell in love! Good afternoon!

Nephew: But uncle, you never came to see me before I got married. Why give it as a reason for not coming now?

Scrooge: Good afternoon.

Nephew: I want nothing from you; I ask nothing of you; why cannot we be friends?

Scrooge: Good afternoon.

Nephew: I am sorry, with all my heart, to find you so resolute (empecinado). But I'll keep my Christmas humour to the last. So A Merry Christmas, uncle! And A Happy New Year!

Keep Going!

Keep Going!

¡Sigue! ¡Ya casi estás!
Keep going! You're nearly there.
Tienes que seguir intentándolo. Algún día
conseguirás un trabajo. You must keep trying. You'll get a
job one day.
¡Sigue buscando! No va a venir a buscarte. Keep looking! It won't jump out at
you.

¡Sigue intentándolo! Al final te lo cogerán.
(al teléfono) Keep trying! You'll get through
eventually.
¡Sigan mandándonos sus donativos! Hay
que recaudar el máximo dinero posible. Keep sending in your donations!
We need to raise as much money as
possible.

Don't keep asking stupid questions!
¡Deja de quitarte los zapatos! Don't keep taking your shoes off!
¡Deja de gastar tu paga en caramelos! Don't keep spending your pocket
money on sweets!

asiento! (en el coche) Please don't keep kicking the back
of my seat! (in the car).
